Python Scripting for Map Automation
This module assumes that you have already worked with Python scripts and arcpy. Please do not try to start this module without having complete Esri Course: Python for Everyone (free). The exam on this part is much more in depth. A good functional understanding of all the commands used in this exercise is required to be able to pass the exam for a certificate.
You need to make sure that you understand how to set the data frame and layers being used as well as an understanding of the concept of MapDocument. Knowledge of the MapBook would be extremely helpful before starting this module.

Concepts:
- Update map document properties such as author, date, and descriptive tags.
- Repair broken layers when map files or data sources have been moved.
- Redirect layers when a new data source has been created.
- Turn map layers on and off and add layers to a map.
- Change a layer's symbology in all maps that contain the layer.
- Print maps and export maps to PDF.
- Publish map books created with data driven pages.
